Our method: BBM
Barrier Breakers Methodology for soft skills development and evaluation — or BBM — is a unique, research-based approach for personal and professional development.
Soft skills are the traits and abilities of attitude and behaviour
rather than knowledge or technical aptitude
Soft skills are being called the 21st century skills, because they’re crucial for success and well-being in our rapidly changing, uncertain world.
Soft skills are not ‘input’ in the way we acquire information; soft skills are basic human capabilities that we ‘access’ and then develop. Traditional methods of skills management were designed to deal with the former process, with inputting information, and measuring concrete results — a process that was pre-eminent in the past.
But needs and priorities have shifted radically and, unsurprisingly, traditional methods have proven ineffective.
BBM is a new approach that comes from a new perspective, created to manage a skills set that we all need to navigate our new terrain. It provides the structure and process that encourages authentic development, and produces robust data with which to measure results .

Barriers — internal and external — block soft skills potential and inhibit individual and organisational performance, reducing personal effectiveness as well as that of teams, systems, environments, and activities.
The BBM framework is based on 5 barrier profiles — the ‘lenses’ through which any situation can be scrutinised to determine where barriers are being built up or broken down, and the impact this is having.
Once BBM has pinpointed where barriers exist, and revealed the effect they’re having, it’s then used to design solutions that remove the barriers and produce evidence of the difference this makes. This process is called EAST: Explore; Assess; Shift; Transform.

BBM is research-based, but it’s designed to be completely accessible and straightforward to learn and apply in numerous personal and professional contexts.
